Default Rear hub lock nut

So I finished front wheel .. new rotor, rebuilt caliper, adjust spokes and balance. Moved on to rear wheel. I was really hoping I would not need to take it off. Thought could just center shoes, adjust brake. That was until I noticed wheel only spins half revolution until something drags. Closer look, I see that the hub lock nut is loose and turning with the wheel.

I am tempted to try to tighten the locknut somehow with the wheel still on the bike, center the shoes and adjust brake to see how it goes. Thinking that is a really stupid idea though if it is even possible? Is it a big job to remove the wheel and go through everything like I know I really should?

It does turn with the wheel, are you sure it"s loose?

Randy, yeah .... I should of been more clear in my original post. It turns with the wheel as in unscrewing / screwing when I spin the wheel. I should just bight the bullet, pull the wheel off and rebuild everything. Just a little more than I was hoping to do right now. Guess I don't want to be Riding down the road thinking ... hmmmm, is my rear wheel going to lock up on me.
