I made that mistake too. Watching the oil absolutely boil out of every crack, crevice and cranny in the engine was a lesson ! Let me save you an entertaining show and recommend the quarter-speed pump

In fact, too much oil in a roller bearing makes it run hotter and blow up faster. On really high-speed ball bearings they don't use oil at all, just a mist of air with oil in it.

I always figured the real problem was getting all the oil out again.
That is a problem. It's a problem for all engines. The Indy Ford had six oil pumps drawing a vacuum. The Cosworth pump is maybe the ultimate for non-exotics (no idear what F1 runs today) -- it's a roots blower that pumps the oily air out of the crankcase, then forces it through a centrifuge to get all the air out, then pumps that back to the tank. Nice.

Anyway, that's all kind of a thread derail from the frame topic ... seriously thinking it would be really fun to put a flathead in there. C'mon chuck, you gotta have a spare KHK engine out in the garage !

Ya know, in 56 the registration went with the engine ... and it only takes an hour or two to swap. You could have a sunday-scratcher chassis and a long-trip chassis and just swap the engine between them. I had a friend with a dark green 67 Mustang fastback and his girlfriend had a dark green 67 Mustang fastback and the only thing he had to be careful about was, don't park them next to each other

Yeah, flatty would be fun.

Guys might be really mad to be dusted by a cool looking lawn mower.

A couple of Briggs & Stratton stickers would really set the hook, eh ?
