85 Ironhead, Kiffy Stand Question
Hey all. Have a fairly new to me 85 IH project, that Ive finally got running well. Question, is the kickstand or frame supposed to have some sort of rubber bumper? Mine stand swings and smacks the frame when I raise it.
Thanks alot

You could glue one on if it bothers you. Mine just hangs. Smacks the frame also.
I don't sweat it.

Mine does too. I'll probably wrap something around the frame where it hits at some point as the frame is freshly powder coated, but I don't think there's anything stock that is supposed to prevent it.

Hardware store will sell you a foam pipe wrap insulation, usually dark gray and are split lengthwise, cut off a piece and slip in over the bottom rail. They come for different diameter pipe so one would be sized appropriately.

The tit wasn't welded on the frame for the rubber bumper until 1989.

I went to the local craft store and got a card of rubber feet for knick knacks or whatever. They were about 1/8" thick about size of a nickel adhesive on one side.
I just cleaned the frame off with some acetone and stuck it there and when it fell off I had 20 or so more ..

It's not normal that the stand touches the frame and swings. Normally, the spring pulls the stand firmly against this small frame extension (red circle).

my 85xlx came from the factory with a plastic lined "conduit cover" clamp, over the frame in that spot. It's still there.
