Default Shock Absorber Mount Bolt Cover

I was at the grocery store yesterday and got chatting to a young lad who had just got his first street bike, I think it was some sort of Honda - looked okay, black, shiny, and he told me it was only 300cc and got some vast number of miles per gallon. Anyway, as I left, I gave him the usual obligatory warning about not trusting the Los Angeles drivers and I headed into the store. But on the way, I just thought I'd have a look at my own bike. And when I did, I saw that the nut that holds the right rear shock onto its stud had disappeared and the top of the shock itself had moved outboard enough so that it was hanging over the edge of the stud itself. Damn glad I looked. I need to ride about 30 miles to a physiotherapy appointment tomorrow, and I don't think there was any chance the shock would have stayed on. I don't know exactly what would happen if the top of your shock came off on the freeway, but I am guessing it wouldn't be fun.

Anyway, I drove (hyper) carefully home, gave it a couple of whacks with a rubber mallet and put on a nut, not forgetting some loctite. I think that must have been why the stud cover and acorn nut came off in the first place. I recently took them off to change the strut cover, and I hadn't used any loctite when I put the nut back on. Won't do that again.

Anyway, sorry for the long story. Here's my point. Does anybody by any chance have a spare shock mount bolt cover, I could purchase? Mine is aluminum not chrome and I think the part number is 54705-94. Right and left should be the same. And if anyone is looking, I also have a pair of the things that came from a '96 1200 Custom. Unfortunately they are a different size, and won't fit on my bike, and aren't doing me any good.

Dan

Default BEWARE Of SCAMMERS!

Some users have received PMs from scammers in response to WTBs that they've posted. They tend to follow along these lines, or similar:
"My buddy <name> has what you're looking for, email him on <email address>."
The person sending the PM typically has no posts, and has only just joined the Forum.

There may be a line like this at the bottom of the PM:
"Sent from my TECNO LB8a using Tapatalk"
If you Google a 'TECNO LB8a' (or whatever phone they're using) you'll see that it has a Nigerian origin!

I very strongly recommend that you don't contact the email address.

Please don't reply to the PM either.

Instead please report the PM: cick the 'Report Private Message' button (). Then one of the mods will deal with the scammer.
