Default Magneto base for 70 XLCH

Hey all,
I recently purchased a 70 XLCH, the crossover year with estart but still had the vertical timer. Previous owner had fitted a Morris mag with a pretty sketchy adjustable adaptor.

I did manage to start the bike but it was too retarded. Due to the sketchy base I am unable to rotate the mag enough to allow for the correct advance. It's also impossible to get to the adjustment nut holding the mag base to the adaptor. Is there an easier setup than this? I'm not fussed with the adjustable advance fixed would be fine. Just not sure what parts I need to buy to set it up correctly. Photos of the adaptor and mag with base attached.

Thanks

Here is the fixed base style. The two mounting screw holes can be offset or straight depending on the base. Normally available on ebay, vtwin, etc.

OEM #'s 29600-48/29600-62/29600-65C

I've used the style you currently have and not had any issues, but i know the 1970 guys can run into a little more fitment issues.

Hope this helps.

Panama, You do not state where the interference is to keep you from setting to Advance ?
