Default xr1200 thottlebody on xb heads (does it fit?!)

Hi XLForum

I´m building a sportster rigid evo, and got xb heads for it.
Does anybody know if the xr1200 throttlebody fits the xb cylinderheads?

i seached the net and found out, that rigid sportster, buell xb and xr1200 all have 45degrees angle between the cylinders.. but that's not equal to that the diffrent induction manifold fit those two cylinderheads..

anybody who knows ?

Its probably too wide so I suppose it could be cut down a bit.

proberly gonna end out buying one and hope for the best, but I still would like somebody who maybe knows, if theres a diffrence between those cylinderheads before I spent more money

I dont know which engine management i´m gonna use on it yet.. i'm not gonna do the mapping my self, my old workshop leader would tune with a super tuner, and cheating it so the super tuner thinks its a newer model 06-up, but another friend which I was in school with, who is also map tuning harleys is hacking the stock ecm from a 2006-up with fine results.. and that's cheaper.

it's proberly ending out with the stock ecm and wirering harness from a newer sportster.. the projeck has gone way beyond the original budget, with alot of race parts and diffrent parts like the xb9 crank which is not machined to fit yet... Gotta love racing a xb9 with the short stroke, just more fun experince in my opion than the xb12 (love those revs) what are you guys opion ?

The manifold surfaces on the EFI heads are cut back like .060 I think
Hence the EFI manifold is not a direct bolt on the carb heads

its xb heads i have for it. mounted on a rigid sportster block/cylinders. no carb heads ..

Rocketman is steering you correctly. Buells never got the wider manifold spacing that was first introduced on EFI Sportsters in 2007. So a Sportster throttle body/manifold is too wide to fit in between XB heads.

Let me qualify that, though. I have never personally measured the XR heads, to verify that their spacing is the same as EFI XL heads. I believe they are, but I'm not certain. Next time a set comes through the shop I'll make the measurement. But if I'm correct and the XR shares the same spacing and manifold width as the EFI XL. then it's throttle body is going to be too wide for XB heads.

Ok that makes sense and it could be real nice if you could messure it at some point, if i buy it before that i will text you with details.

when you say its wider, how much do you think approx. we are talking about ? do you think if i make litlle jig between the xb head space. that it would be possibly to cut weld and mill it to fit with som craftsmanship and the enjectors holes still being kept stock or are those maybe placed to wide ?
