Thumbs up Buell back in business?

Damn near 200hp & 165mph top speed??? Jeez! HD firing Erik Buell is a perfect example of just how GD stupid they are.
https://www.erikbuellracing.com/1190blacklightning

Last I checked Buell had filed for bankruptcy. Glad to see he's back in business. I bet this REALLY pees off the idiots in Milwaukee trying to stupidly reinvent the wheel and steadily flushing an AMERICAN icon down the toilet. I don't understand how delusional those f-ups can be when the edge of the cliff is in plain sight and STILL insist on thinking its 1995 and every SOB in the world wants to ride a $30k Land Barge HD????

He's actually stupid enough to think focusing on the 'Big Bikes' is the way to go when in reality, right now at least, its the opposite. HD needs to reduce the models produced & focus on the biggest selling models like the Sportster and even the softtail NOT the $30k - maybe sell 1 per week AARP models. Jeez what utter stupidity!!!!!

Back in business?

That website hasn't changed in 4 years.

If you want to see what Mr. Buell is up to now, google "Fuell."

Yeah, it's talking about the 2017 Buell.

It really sucks, because the EBR bikes were the culmination of what Erik wanted to do the whole time, but the MoCo wouldn't let him.

First it was the Blast, then it was those goofy pods on the Rotax bikes.

Pair that with an obstinate dealer network, and they were doomed.

Now that Impala is ostensibly in control of the MoCo the most we can hope for is another eventual employee buyback, but I doubt that lightning will strike twice.

Hedge funds aren't in it for the long haul.

Harley needs to evolve, and that costs money.

So anything newer than 22 months ago?

I haven't seen anything online about any 2020 or 2019 EBR. The newest one on Cycle Trader is a used '17. The ones still at my local dealer are also '17s. I haven't been there since 2019, so I don't know if they are still on the showroom floor or not. Nothing but stock photos on their website.

So maybe there are people out there that will pay MSRP for the same bike one could still buy new for less than 13 grand, who knows? The naked one is selling for $10g plus fees. That's a smokin deal, until it needs to be repaired or serviced.

They also are not competitive in racing anymore, but would make a really cool track day toy.

So yeah, they built 3 of them 22 months ago presumably to fill existing orders.

Since then, not one single blurb anywhere in the motorcycle press. The founder's toy bicycles get more buzz.

Turns out in addition to the bicycle, there's an electric motorcycle in the works. It will be interesting to see how it stacks up against the Zeros and Enérgicas.

I just wish Buell was more Sportster focused as opposed to kiddy sport bikes. I get a deep subtle laugh whenever I see a 32+yr old dude on a rice rocket. I instantly think Just For Men and vaping w/ his 'bros', like those old wine cooler commercials w/ men trying to make drinking wine coolers cool. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1daIIDQsXI

Looking from my FORMER sportbike perspective I see the sport in SPORTster very clearly now and can see the 'girls bike' as actually a cool thing as due to the fact when compared to the 670lb Softtail the Sportster is a sportbike in the Harley sense which makes it exponentially cooler and the Softtail far more like those AARP highway snoozefest money pits & makes the sportbikes so childish its truly laughable owning/riding one past the age of 19. Sorry for the extended explanation but I had to say it. Thanks for reading.

Of course it's a deep subtle laugh. It's not like you are actually going to run your ignorant mouth.

You are the guy who never runs his bike more than 2,700rpm, right?

LMFAO

I ride a Dyna right now, but who knows what the next bike will be?

I wish I could still ride literbikes, but my knee says no. I was still riding my GSX-R 1000 at age 45. She was so much fun. The bike actually has a ton of midrange, so it was capable of safely pack riding.
