but hears the bike just incase you guys were wondering what it looks like. like i said it was a budget build and my first ever harley build. bike was sitting for over 10 years and had seen better days thats for sure.

the problem there is the previous owner is deceased. it was a good frined of mine's uncles. when he passed away he took the bike in terns gave it to me to get it back on the road. another issue is the bike was last registered in ny 10+ years ago. there not exactly the nicest people to deal with lol.. but i did just get off the phone with the local state police and they stated if i bring the vin number they can try and run it for me to see who or when it was last registered to. hopefully it shows up in there system. this is the last piece to the puzzle.

Here are a couple of methods I have used in the past. Bought a basket case with no title once. Didn't pay for it until after the DMV verified the VIN was not reported stolen. The bike had changed hands a few times without being registered, and the title was lost. My brother owned a auto repair shop, so he put a mechanics lean on it for nonpayment of repairs, and then transfered the title to me. If you know a mechanic this might work. Second a friend stored a car in my side yard, then moved back East. He was suppose to come back for it with a few months. 4 years later, I was moving and needed it gone. I knew it would be hard to sell without a title. I was able to apply for a title through the DMV for abandonded vehicle. Both were time consuming methods, but relatively cheap. Good luck.

Not really a problem. If your State has this paperwork, which I believe they should, you just need to explain the facts. It seems they just need a trail of facts to support why they issued a current tag. Trust me, I was really sweating it when I started my paperwork but it worked out just fine. Be prepared for possible back pay on the tags however. Thats where they raked me over the coals. $750 worth.

Sounds like my methods might be a lot cheaper, if your state allows either of these methods.

i do know a mechanic but he is not the owner of the shop so i dont think that can help any. but i will look into the abandoned vehicle thing. it hasnt ben registered for over 10+ years as far as i know so this might work. ill just say its ben sitting in my garage for whatever amount of years and need the title to get rid of it. maybe ill get lucky.

jeez! if anything along the lines of 750$ pops up, is anyone looking for a good rinning ironhead lol. im just going to try and be patient, hopefully one of these methods works out for me.

You might look into the requirements to file a mechanics lean. It may be possible to get it done with just a mechanics liscense/regristration. Many mechanics take jobs on the side out of their home. The intent of this law in Idaho is that when the final bill is more than the cars owner feels the car is worth, they may decide not to pay the bill. It allows the mechanic to sell the car to recover his money.
