Haha he will jump through hoops of fire for kfc.

I could probably take some meat off that front face in the lathe on the 70t. What did your friend use to reshape the holes?

ha ha have not meet a dog that did not like KFC.
I'm not sure what he used but scribed out the pattern of the holes. they looked like something performance machine had made.
there would be a lot of ways you could do it. like if you had a mill it would be easy. but could even, scribe the pattern ( he did it sort of like a mag wheel ) then with a small drill bit & maybe a bench drill & good base mount to hold, go along the scuba line drilling small holes. the finish off with a file and radius the edges. I think he even machined the sides off like Buell ( you don't really need them and get a lot of weight off. tat is rotating weight. good luck

Should be able to get the pulley in the lathe sometime today if everything goes to plan.
I’m thinking of making some soft jaws to hold the pulley by its teeth in the lathe. Will see what happens.

I wasn’t happy.
When I spun the pulley on the lathe I could see it had a buckle in it. With the outer face hard up against the chuck the hub was out of shape almost 1mm. Funny thing is I couldn’t feel any wobble when I was riding the bike with it on the other day. So I went ahead and machined it anyway, thinking the hassle of sending it back to the USA isn’t worth the drama and I could probably take out a lot of the wobble by squaring up the hub to the outer surface the belt runs on. That’s the problem with buying secondhand parts I guess, you get a bad deal sometimes.

Anyway after machining the pulley it looked pretty good, not perfect but very close to it. You can see in the picture below the soft jaws I made.

Next picture shows how far out it was after the first cut.

The finished product.

And I also took some meat off the outside of the hub. Strangely enough the distance between the inside and outside of the hub was exactly the same all the way around after taking the outside meat off.

If I couldn’t feel a wobble before I definitely won’t feel anything now. I hope haha.

good you found the wobble, be interesting what you notice when you use it.

Yeah. I think it’s going to be ok. It did look heaps better after a tweak on the lathe.

I informed the seller of my dilemma with his wobbly pulley and he has told me to keep the pulley and he will refund me the full amount I payed for it. Awesome, so I’m only down the cost of shipping. Which makes me happy.
