Default What Trips Do You have Planned for 2019

(saw a post like this on another forum...thought it was a great idea)

What are you planning for 2019?

From location to location?

Is it a straightest route type or is a whimsical see were the road takes you kinda trip?

Are you riding by yourself or with a group (size of the group)?

Preparations to the bike?

Pre-planning or off the cuff?

Minimum miles you expect to cover on this trip?

Camping or Hotel?

Must have equipment?

Why?

Sights you are for sure going to see?

I'll start it out-

What are you planning for 2019?

Two Big Trips-

#1

Black Hills, Grand Teton, Colorado

#2

New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland

From location to location?

Is it a straightest route type or is a whimsical see were the road takes you kinda trip?

#1

Straight thru to the Black Hill, then wander around the area for 5 days, then over to the Grand Teton Mountains, then to Colorado Rockies

#2

Planned out, with points of interest to see in NB, NS and ferries and motels already reserved for the circle around NF

Are you riding by yourself or with a group (size of the group)?

Myself and Mary

Preparations to the bike?

Normal maintenance

Pre-planning or off the cuff?

Parts pre-planned, parts just wandering around, where the road takes us

Minimum miles you expect to cover on this trip?

#1

2500 miles on the bike

#2

4000 km on the Trike

Camping or Hotel?

Neither. Using Toy Hauler as base camp. Except on Newfoundland, where we'll be in motels

Must have equipment?

Cameras

Why?

Fun

Sights you are for sure going to see?

Needles

Mt. Rushmore

Custer National Park

Badlands (maybe)

Deadwood

Devils Tower

Spearfish Canyon

Grand Teton National Park

Rocky Mountain National Park

Hopewell Rocks

Halifax

Sydney

Cabot Trail

St. John's

Dildo Run Provincial Park

Twillingate

Gros Morne National Park

Prince Edward Island

Just did Trinidad Colorado.

Rode back dirt roads and spotted, turkeys, elk, black bears, old coal mining sites, old trucks used as bedrock on base of mountain goat trail roads.

Went up alone on Hwy 285 north from Pecos Texas to Hwy 70 west NM.
Took NM Hwy 70 west in Artesia to Vaughn NM.
Followed the signs to Las Vegas NM via getting on interstate 25 north.

Took I25 from Las Vegas NM to Trinidad.
Still have to pay a speeding ticket I got outside of Raton Pass.

No real plans seeing my brother was in Oklahoma city and I was clueless of this fact.
So I basically cruised the colorado craiglist listings.
Rode around and looked at parts and scooters.

In Peublo, Denver, Aroura, and Longmount. Spent a motel night when the white out storm kicked in. Blew in about 8pm.

No pics. Leaving in late June to Ruidoso Rodeo Motorcycle run. Younger brother should hook up with me there. Scooters only. No trailering.

What are you planning for 2019?

- I am leaving June 12 for Greenville SC and will start the Iron Butt Rally on June 17. Will ride to Kennewick WA in 3 1/2 days, ride about Kennewick WA for 3 days, and then ride back to Greenville in 5 days

- Then plan to swing by the Sportster Meetup in WV on the way home

From location to location?

- No idea what route I will take, will find out just before each leg when I plan my route

Is it a straightest route type or is a whimsical see were the road takes you kinda trip?

- North American scavenger hunt

Are you riding by yourself or with a group (size of the group)?

- Around 100 bikes will be competing but we all ride our own route

Preparations to the bike?

- Spent a year going over it

Pre-planning or off the cuff?

- Short notice planning by definition

Minimum miles you expect to cover on this trip?

- 11,000 during the 11 day rally, plus another 1200 - 1500 to and from the start

Camping or Hotel?

- Hotels for sure, although I will likely be riding through the night one or more times

Must have equipment?

- For rally planning a laptop, and lots of tools

Why?

- For the challenge

End of June we're going to the Canary Islands for 10 days (just off Spain) and today we booked a week in Prague in mid-September. Haven't been to Czech Republic as yet so that will be cool. I'm surfing through travel forums to get some good recommendations.

I just rode from here in Clarksville, TN through Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado Utah, Wyoming, Idaho and as far as Hells Canyon, Oregon. I rode solo to Colorado, picked up three buddies there and off we went. Had some heavy rain, sleet and snow crossing the Rockies. Rode back from Colorado solo and covered 4,851 miles total. I did not do this on my Sportster but used my Indian Roadmaster.

Leaving here on October 3rd and heading to Paris, Texas on the Sporty and accompanied by three buddies. We are going to attend the "Bring it Home" ride in which we will try and break the Guinness Book of World records of the largest formation of Harleys in the world. The ride is scheduled for October 5. That record is currently held in Greece. If you are interested check out the Paris H-D website for information.
