I have Memphis shades 17 inch windshield on my C. I tried moving it up & down on the fork tubes and forward & back in the angle adjustment. I could never get the wind diversion as good as it was on my Roadking. Under 50 is very good, 55 up gets the buffeting & wind noise at the helmet going...this keeps me from going much over 70 MPH. The "happy speed" with my current setup is 65. What I do get from the windshield is a relief to the pressure on my shoulders and don't feel like I'm holding on for dear life every time I pass a truck on the highway. Yes there is wind coming up from the tank but that is not what is shaking my head. A taller/wider screen would fix where the wind hits me but is not worth it to me. I get relief from bugs hitting me in the throat and extended ride times. When I switched to 13 in shocks it changed my seating position and where the wind hits me...my helmet is now more in the wind flow. As with many things there are compromises that come with mods.

I've got the drop top version. Without the "drop top" (it's removable) it sucks. It's a plain 15" windshield without the drop top. There's no position that works, there's too much buffeting. With the drop top it really works giving a nice dead air pocket. It works best laid back as much as the range of adjustment allows.
Downside(s) are:
It's noisey. You definitely want ear plugs.
It increases drag. MPG's take a hit.
It limits how fast you can go. Not that you can't go faster, but you're limited to about 85 mph because that's all the mounting clamps on the forks can handle. They twist on the fork tubes and the windshield lays back until it hits whatever it's closest to. IIRC that's the mirror stalk on the right side. It puts the windshield in a helluva bind.
That said I do like it when it's cold out, it makes a BIG difference but when it's warmer it comes off.

I've been reading along & doing research elsewhere, it seems most of the problems are caused by leg position with fwd controls, they are huge scoops directing the air up & into your chest

Could be but my Custom has forward controls and with the Memphis Shades Drop Top I sit in a nice still air pocket. It's actually kinda weird sitting there without the usual push back from the wind blast.

MDM31408 is the Memphis Shades part # for the windshield I have, then you need the appropriate mounting kit.
