97 Evo Sportster No 5th Gear
I have a 1997 Sportster that will not go into 5th gear. I picked it up about a year ago. It has 21k miles on it and was pretty neglected. Over the year, I have done a ton of work to it, mostly never done maintenance. I just pulled the primary cover and set the shifter pawl. I also replaced the clutch with a Barnett extra clutch plate set and Barnett spring plate. I set the clutch cable and obviously replaced the primary oil. I feel like I have made all the necessary adjustments necessary for the bike to run properly. It did not go into 5th when I got it and it does not go into 5th after all of my repairs. I did not pull the transmission. Thanks.
