pistons
I have a 73 xlh. There are early and late jugs that year. The early jugs are limited to I believe .030 overbore. Before purchasing the pistons make sure your jugs can cleanup first. Any good machinist can do this.I run Wiseco
pistons with Kibblewhite black diamond valves and springs.Just mentioning this as an option for you.

sungod makes a good point.the.030 bore limit is a factory spec.i have '72 1000 cylinders that have been bored.040 for 40+yrs in a stroker motor.the same cylinders that were used in the early'73.

Thanks for the subtle reminder Bruce. I swear I’ll get the bit gauge out one of these days.

good time
Now is the time to check rod shake side to side and up and down. Hate to see you rebuild the top end just to have another piston failure. Remember you only have one more overbore (.030) to go on the jugs.PS I had my 73 HD jugs resleeved several years ago by Rask Cycle in PA. The deal was Rask wanted me to purchase the pistons from them.Unfortunately I had already purchased new standard pistons from Wiseco so I made a deal with them.I paid their standard markup on the set and they did the job with my pistons.
