What are your concerns and observations about rolling the Dyna models into the Softail line? I always liked the look of the Dynas but I keep hearing how good the new Softail Chassis is so I can see the value behind the consolidation from both the function and business point of view.

I love the Cyclone! That and the Ulysses are my favorite Buells. If I see a cheap Cyclone near me, hopefully I can buy it and save it from being turned into a stupid chopper.

I don't have any technical or esthetic issues one way or the other. Just that it was a very abrupt transition for a traditionally conservative customer base to absorb.

When Harley introduced the Dyna to replace the older FXR series, they did so gradually. The Sturgis was the only Dyna on offer the first year. IIRC, the phase in/phase out of the mainstream production FXR in favour of the Dyna took place over 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994 model years.

They took a big gamble on the new Softail being a game changer. H-D may have been better off with a more gradual phase out of the Dyna models, as well. Sales have declined steadily since 2017, so they can't pin it all on Covid.
