Hi Dave,

How are those Gazi shocks working out?

My 04 roadster suffered the dreaded 'left side cover falls off' syndrome.
Upgraded genuine parts fixed it but, also used a zip tie to make sure. I hate plastic (as a mechanic it spells trouble).
Dirt roads n potholes , we have in abundance.

We had a real good knock em down storm through here last saturday night
which took the top off some of our gumtrees that are 70mts tall and lots of branches down. Fortunately nothing on the house!

Next day all the parrots and other assorted birds were back as usual, how they manage is amazing.

The Gazi’s are ok at the moment.

Glad I’m not the only one with bits falling off haha.

The birds must do it tough. I have come across a few kookaburras over the years that were water logged and couldn’t fly after a storm. And kangaroos you could walk up to because they were dazed and confused after a big hail storm. Poor Buggas.

Speaking of wildlife, I just remembered I had 3 young Dingoes on the coal stockpile with me last night. I parked the dozer and watched them for a few minutes, they were having a great time sliding down the banks. Unfortunately I couldn’t get a decent photo with my phone in the dark.

Rest stop on the way home.

Noticing more vibration today, I wonder if it could be the drag specialties engine mounts I put in a few years back. Do the centre’s wear out in them rather than sag like the oem mounts? I might buy some new oem mounts and change the front ones for starters and see how that goes.

Whenever I change a front right engine mount I want to punch an engineer in the throat.

A very common feeling regarding many issues we have the pleasure of playing with...oh, never mind.

I put new front engine mounts in yesterday, pita job that one. But not having much luck fixing the air filter cover. I managed to weld the posts back on by heating up an old screwdriver until the end was red hot and using it like a soldering iron. I used black cable ties as filler. I then decided to drill holes all the way through on the broken end and when I tried to countersink the holes for the bolts the corner cracked. So I used the same hot screwdriver and cable tie filler technique to fix that. I have it on the filter box just to make sure it fits ok. Later on I will take it off and clean it all up, sandpaper and paint it black.

Some plastic welding.

Counter sunk holes.

Hopefully it will look at least half like a damn fine job when I’m finished haha
