Default 3.25x19? 90-90x19?

I switched the front fender on my '98 to the older style like what was used on the Ironhead bikes. I've been running a Dunlop K591 in 100-90x19 and I like how that tire sticks, but it's too wide to go on or off without removing the front fender.

What would be the best choice in a good sticky tire in the smaller 19" sizes? Do any of the other 100-90 tires, say Metzler or Avon, run skinnier than the Dunlop 591?

I'm probably going to go with the V-rated Roadrider tire in 90-90 if nobody talks me out of it.

When i swopped my 21" to a 19" (100/90/19), i could not get the wheel back in with without removing the fender bolts.
But if i remember rightly, you only need to remove the nuts from one side and slide the bolts out slightly to get enough clearance.
It's not a big deal.

I did the same a couple years ago. I like the looks and function of a fuller fender.
Same problem with the wheel, have to pull the fender to get the wheel off.
I don't worry about it, the wheel doesn't come off often enough to be a problem.
Besides, I like the fender AND the larger tire.

At home the fender is basically a non-issue, as you say. I'm thinking about what if I need to remove the wheel along the road, just one less thing to have to deal with. Although I do run tubeless, so a plug is an option.......

I'm also anticipating the lighter, quicker steering that a smaller lighter tire will give. My old BMW could run either a 90-90 or 100-90, and each time I ran the bigger size it felt like I turned it into a bus, comparatively.

I don't need the smaller tire, I just WANT one!
