Default Calling Saskatchewan

I've wanted to tour south Sask by Harley for years now after seeing the countryside from a Trans Canada flight. My question is what is the typical time of wheat harvest? I'm keen to see the grasslands and coulees/badlands and figured fall could be good weather/no bugs. Harvest time must be a pretty active time on the praire. Drop me some hints or favorite roads/locations, I like extended non paved /gravel, river ferries, small primitive road connections between areas and undeveloped camping.
Thanks Islander

It has to be around -50 in Sask right now ... they're probably all hibernating !

harvest in sw sask is generally in mid-late august, go further north and it's end of aug-early sept
you're gonna have bugs.... pretty much till the real late season (begin of oct-ish they're finally gone)

i'm in sw sask and rather partial to it, there is a great touring area in the sw from the grasslands ntl park through what they call the horseshoe region... it will bring you through oil country, cattle country, and good ol farm country... as well it skirts the cypress hills inter-provincial park.... much like a mini-banff (mountain type) setting.... just no real big mountains.... well treed with lodge pole pines and plenty of wildlife with a real nice park in the middle of it full of amenities

this whole region is 60 miles north of the us border so any length of time here and you might venture down there as well.... it's about 10 hours from sturgis so that might be a good timeframe to come near the area

have a good trip!

I have to agree with 01XLH1200
that is some nice riding country. There is a ferry at Riverhurst if you are so inclined to go up that way kind of skirts along Lake Diefenbaker such, lots of camping spots
as for the other guy who commented it is about +30 here today it won't be -50 for another couple months! LOL
