Rodzilla, yes, I`m 100% sure that I prefer to keep these stock ones.
For the fitment, 72-76 chain inspection plug has a vent hole and some type of gauze filter to vent the trans/primary, where 77 up vent the trans through the top rear of the case. I don’t believe that the thread pitch and diameter changed, so technically you should still be able use them.

Unfortunately, no. The primary cover has to come off to change the cable. Make sure you have a shop manual or a good description/video of how to remove it, what to look out for, and how to adjust the clutch after you put it back together.

Your bike seems the same as mine. Do you still have stock exhaust? How does it looks inside and is it quiet? I`m not sure which will be the best option to make it as quieter as possible - to buy or diy baffles or buy completely new mufflers?

The stock exhaust system is relatively quiet, but not as quiet as those on newer Harleys. Looks like you have the stock exhaust - hold a muffler up and look through it. You shouldn't be able to see any light through it if it's still stock. If stock, you won't find any mufflers that are more quiet that don't hurt your performance. Here's a full picture of my XLX.

Looks good. No, I can clearly see through my exhaust pipe, there is nothing at all inside. And I completely do not give a xxxx about perfomance. I'm all year and all weather rider (at least I was) and for me the quieter and SMOOTHER bike is - the better.
I also plan to install efm clutch and relocate the rear brake to left handlebar. Far more control in deep snow or ice.

In that case, find some stock take-off mufflers and put them on. Look for ones with the same mounts as your stock ones (front muffler has the mount on top with a built-in brake pedal stop, rear muffler has a mount on the bottom). Mufflers from 1982 well into the Evo era will work, so finding a pair of them shouldn't be too difficult.

Great. Thanks. I thought so, that the mufflers looks like from Evo, but still was not absolytely sure. Just need to repaint it to black then.

True, but I think the last year with the integrated brake pedal stop was 1995. The mufflers from 1996-2003 will still fit, but a brake pedal stop will have to be added.

Cycle Shack used to have the brake pedal stop as a separate orderable part. There is no HD part number for it as it was a welded on part of the muffler, not a separate part. I do not know if there is a current after market part?

My indie mechanic made one for me for my 1980...
