Thanks Cotton man.
Motor is stock and appears to be in good shape. Lakeside Machine will freshen up a set of 2011 heads I have and hone the cylinders for the 10.5/1 pistons.

I decided to weld the frame myself and there will be no pics. As I said before I'm a junkyard welder at best, I laid the lumps and did alot of grinding. I will clean them up nice and fill pits with JB weld. After all this is a backyard build.

That's a significant change in plans...

I guess the welds are really just holding things together? I presume there are slugs that fit in the tube of the frame and tail sections that would give the actual strength?

Yes and I drilled holes for plug welds. The welds are structurally sound just ugly as hell. I hit them with a grinder and now a little body filler before powder coat

Top end and wheels are at Lakeside Machine. I found a powder coater 5 min from my house who has a small machine shop, he does a lot of one off stuff for custom builders and local race teams. Besides powder coat he is going to touch up my welds and fab a few things for me.

I can relate. Being 2 weeks from everything. Waiting on do over posts when things go south as usual on any back yard builds. Though you live in civilization with people around.

Not like the empty spaces I live in. Looks real good and snazzy to me. It would make a good desert dual sport bike out here. Only hard tail I am doing is on hold presently. Won't be a XL though. Good luck with the new build and I hope she handles like a dream. Creature comforts can be dialed in on a hardtail. Just depends on the owners skill set and wallet. I bet DK Customs hard tail build threads should be a big help on this.
