Align intake manifold
When the motor was assembled last yr on my 76' XLH I neglected to align the cylinders/heads to the intake manifold and the gap is uneven between each side. Had a hard time getting it to seal so went w/ hi heat 1" long dual rubber hose's w/ 4 skinny clamps. That's worked fine until yesterday when the carb spit slightly when I grabbed a handful of throttle when it was not fully warmed up. That popped the intake manifold loose f/ the rubber hose.
Run original Keihin butterfly carb/air cleaner & brace.
May prefer to go back to the original OEM o rings and metal clamp setup to seal the intake manifold to the cylinder heads.
Looks like I need to align the intake manifold w/ the cylinder heads properly. With the motor in the frame do I need to loosen just the cylinder bases or just the heads to get enough movement to align. Or do I need to loosen both heads and cylinder bases?

Start off loosening the base bolts and if that doesn’t give you the enough play then go to the head bolts.
