Thanks! The tech explanation is welcome and isn't lost on me. I don't have the space needed to be my own shop for anything outside of routine adjustments & fluid changes. I saw nothing in the FSM re these breather valves except the diagram pg 3-17 for the breather system illustrating them. I'll have to offer up what you said when I take the bike in. I'm curious what I'll hear back...? The bike has been trouble free outside of warranty only needing a clutch just before 30k.
Again, much appreciated.

Beware!!
This is a dark topic that most don't understand much of and the leeches are bountiful.
The truth is the engine was designed to breath within certain parameters.
When those limits are breached, problems arise.
We recently had a member with this problem and his motor was smoking from the vents.
He replaced the breathers and it went away.
So if you looked in the manual, you'd have no direction toward the breathers being the problem.
Again, this is just one avenue. There are other considerations as well.

With no previous leaking issues from this gasket area, no obvious venting / pressure problem symptoms…my take away with my milage is to change out the breathers. At worst it is preventive maintenance which is good.
Thanks

update-I’m pretty sure I don’t have a leak from the rocker box gaskets. More miles and more time has me rethinking what I perceived as oil. I think I was over zealous with the silicone engine brightened for wrinkle black HD finishes. Some musta pooled where I was heavy handed. In 15 years I’ve only had to freshen up the wrinkle black twice.
Geeze sometimes I could smack myself it’s ough being borderline OCD
I will follow up with the breather 1) if any oil weep arises 2) if any service requires opening up the top end
I learned quite a bit. I’m still going to watch the area to be sure, but what I’ve been seeing I think is really silicone and grime rather than petroleum. Checking again when I run my fingers along the suspect areas when cold.
