Default Full face, Half or skull cap?

Which do you use?

I use full face for 1 reason and thats because I watched a friend dump a bike at 30 mph avoiding a dog. I saw the helmet afterwards and it had a huge chuck torn out of the front and rear in places that wouldve been his chin and back of head had he not been wearing it. Chin wouldve been wrecked wearing a skull cap.

He walked away from the wreck - bike was totaled.

I wore a skull cap once and did enjoy it, but I wont switch from my full face for protection reasons.

+1

Full face all the time. Even sitting in traffic in 100's in Arizona.

My family doesn't like me riding to begin with, so to appease them it's ATGATT

Bugs too.. forgot about that. I can smile under my full face which has been unavoidable riding my new Harley, and not worry about bugs in my teeth.

Keep smiling, right up to the point a bug that stings gets pissed off while being stuck in there with you. Just last week when I was out riding the crotch rocket I put the face shield down and what do it see, a big wasp right in front of my left eye. I flipped the shield up rather quickly to let the little bugger out........ I have more problems with bugs when wearing my ff on the crotch rocket than I ever have with the DOT half shell on my Harley. I've been stung twice so I don't smile anymore when wearing the ff........

The ff helmets are hotter, heavier and more expensive to maintain by far. They restrict my vision left or right, up or down, so that's a big negative for me but I do wear one of two that I own when I ride the crotch rocket. On the Sporty I use my DOT half shell and love every loud minute of it.......

I miss voted, I currently have a 1/2 helmet, but in the fall, I will be picking up a full face helmet so I can ride more in the cooler weather. My helmet is showing some signs of wear so I will probably be in the market for a new one by this time next year and I am looking into the carbon fiber/kevlar type helmets...

I have a half face for around town when it's hot out, but wear a full face helmut when riding the highways or in cooler weather. My full face is an HD FXRG and it's (Carbon Fibre/Kevlar) really light. I actually find it more comfortable than the half helmut but it does restrict vision a little. (less head scratch from the full face and no bugs or eye water)

I couldn't vote because I use more than 1 type of helmet on a regular basis. When I am on the Sporty I use a half shell DOT; I have 4, on the crotch rocket I use a full face DOT; I have 2 and when I am on the dirt bike I use a full face MX DOT; I have 2. When I am on the Harley my feet are forward meaning the landing gear is already down. When I am on the crotch rocket I am face forward ready to be used as a battering ram much like Larry and Moe using Curly to punch through the door. Three weeks ago I went down on the Harley to avoid becoming a hood emblem and I never even scratched my helmet, ride jacket, boots or gloves. I just scraped up a good pair of jeans but they too are still usable; knowing how to fall does help. Like bikes, helmets are a thing you must feel comfortable with. My wife could never wear a full face because she is claustrophobic and I know others that have this same problem. Is the full face safer? Yeah, it probably is however, there is no way on gods green earth I can see as well out that face shield so I have to turn my head farther to achieve the same sight reference or use the mirror. In any case it’s all about what feels best for the individual…

I've been wearing the 1/2 helmet lately but prefer the full-face. I need a new one.
