Default RSD Front Pulley Cover Install?

I bought this RSD front pulley cover:

The directions say to remove the "sprocket nut lock plate" and it does not say to reinstall it. This does not seem correct to me, this is what prevents the pulley nut from backing off correct? It seems I would want to keep this in place and the RSD cover had nothing to prevent the pulley nut from backing off. I was going to contact RSD Monday but and ask but figured maybe someone on here installed one.

I'd assume you're removing the screws from the lock plate to install the cover, but not removing the actual lock plate itself.

RSD's parts have horrible directions and, at times, flat out nonsense designs, so it wouldn't surprise me if they meant the right thing and said it wrong, nor would it if they just wanted you to do it the sketchy way...

My gauge mount requires you to pull a near impossible to access screw, remove the gauge, put it back together, then adjust the headlight, then pull it all back apart to put the gauge back in there after you've adjusted it. There was also something about a tab being in the way and breaking it off to get things in there... No idea what that nonsense was about.

What happens if you just stack the cover on top of the plate and bolt it down? Does it look like it mounts properly?

I have it installed. The idea is to remove the 2 bolts that support the nut lock plate and instead use the bolts with the spacers that comes with the RSD cover. That is all, the nut lock remains in place under the RSD cover.

As you have all apart, is good time to clean and maybe paint the pulley, as now it is exposed
