Well it's almost done, just need to hook up the tach wire and TS cancel wire, clean and tuck some wiring, toss tank back on and I should be gtg. Hardest part is that damn battery, took me over an hour just to get it back in and hooked up...no space whatsoever.

Well o finally got it all hooked up, but I can't seem to get codes other than the clock, rpm, 0-60.
I was still in 1st gear doing about 25 and it had me going like 75mph. Trying to find how to calibrate it now. I did swap my stock rear 16" for an 18" x 200. Don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Hi Breeze,
This thread is saving me-- trying to install an MXL-3000 in my '02 1200C. I'd suspected I'd need to run the red/ white to the battery and install a fuse, but hoped not to.
Regarding the TS cancel, what'd you hook it to? That's the white/ turquoise, correct? Reading the Sporsterpedia just now I'm thinking that's goes to 'Speed Out' (white if memory serves) from the "indicator" harness from the DD unit.
I'm planning to use the orange/ white for keyed power, plug the DD triangle Deutsch into the stock harness under the seat, and now use that TSM cancel. What'd you do with the rest of the stock harness that goes into the speedo? Tuck it somewhere? Is it safe...won't cause errors, I mean...for those wires to be unused?
This site is such a lifesaver! Kyle

Since my model 2000 didn't come with a tach my connector (160a top-160b bottom) has a different pin configuration. I used the white wire and spliced everything into the wires coming from the top connector 160a and spliced it into the white/green wire. The other 3 wires, purple, blue and another white wire I just snipped off as there's nothing to connect them to since there's no security system.
Everything works fine except the actual speed. It says I have to either use a pace car/bike or download a speedometer app to view actual speed and adjust it while riding and since I swapped my stock rear 16" to an 18" wheel it definitely throws off the actual speed. I've been looking on YT for a vid how to do it but might just call Dakota Digital tech support. Other than that it looks great and I can finally see my room's and eventually the gear position will learn itself once my actual speed is on point. I didn't put the pug harness back under the headlight brow as there's no room plus I'm changing the front end, including headlight and removing the brow eventually. Once I get my new 5gal tank ready to mount I'll redo most of the speedo wiring to look more professionally hidden by either a minor tank lift, only an inch or so as the well between the double sided tank is larger than my stock 3.3gal. Eventually going with a mid to wide glide front end to run a fatter front wheel. My stock is only a 90 still with the stock mag wheel. I wanna go to at least a 120 since I put on an 18 x 200 rear fat 40 spoke rim from DNA all powder coated black with white spoke nipples. Wish I could've found brass spokes because eventually the bike will be all black with brass parts, including brake discs, as little chrome as possible, longer risers and maybe 12" mini apes...not sure yet on that part. Next is the forwards from TC Bros with brass pegs, braided brass gas and oil lines and once I figure out how to install an oil pressure gauge. A little older ,nostalgic look mixed with digital modernized parts I guess.

Hey Breeze-
I got everything going today, not too hard really.
Setting the speed wasn't too bad. I tried going a constant speed and adjusting the DD displayed speed up and down based on my phone's GPS. I tried in a large cemetery to stay off the road and it didn't work well at all. Too hard to hold speed.
I ended up using a map-my-run app on my phone to travel 1 mile and using the Auto speedo setting of the DD. I'm quite happy with that. As long as you go one mile your speed can change, start, stop, whatever as long as you stay in the Auto mode and keep the bike running.

For power and TCM I used the orange-white and white-green, respectively. I ended up installing a 2-pin Deutsch connector with the factory wires in one side and the DD in the other. Ground reused the stock speedo black, everything else wired as the directions (and Relax's) directions laid out. Kyle
