Well, Jerry, it’s warming up and activity should skyrocket. Oh, think my gremlin has been vanquished, at least I hope so. Thanks!

Normally, this can be accomplished by widening the spark gap. However, this causes spark voltage to increase, which has the opposite effect. Iridium Power uses DENSO's patented U-Groove ground electrode to achieve maximum ignitability while minimizing required voltage.

I am also using the same plugs.
I have gapped mine at 1mm, roughly 0.040.
Is 0.035 gap better for this plug?

Rule of thumb, Iridium plug gap is set at the factory and gapping them will damage the center tip (researching this will confirm my claim), Platinum Plugs should only be gapped once before installing. All others, standard and copper, can be gapped and regapped.

About a year ago, I put a set of NGK DCPR7Es in my 04 XL1200C with a new set of Red Moroso Wires running to the stock coil. It Works great! Not a single hiccup and the plugs are still in great shape after about 1200 miles of local stop and go riding.

You don’t damage iridiums by gapping them. Platinums can be regapped just fine.

The damage comes from people using those stupid ramp gauges as an adjuster. It’s a measuring tool, not an adjustment tool. Bend the nice sturdy copper strap and don’t mash things against the fine electrodes. They adjust perfectly well. You just need to make sure you only measure the gap if you’re putting something up against the electrodes. Don’t apply force to them.

I have one of these for my car where I run ruthenium plugs. Those are even finer electrodes than iridium. They still need gapped properly.
