Finally; a Victory!

A little bit of history was made last night at the Sacramento Mile. A Harley-Davidson XG 750, ridden by Dalton Gauthier won the Production Twins Main Event. It was the first time an XG has won in American Flat Track. A second XG, which was ridden by James Raspoli finished fifth after leading the race early on.

I consider the Production Twins class to be the modern day equivalent of the old Class C. It would tickle me to see it become the Premier Class, so that privateers might have a chance at winning for a change.

I hope the Harleys can do as well at the Springfield Mile on Labor Day weekend.

Finally, a Suzuki on the podium also. (singles class) With all the talk before the season I'd thought I'd see more of them. Anyway, hurrah for the motor company.

Any idea if the XG that won was a SOHC or if it had the V&H DOHC heads?

I don't know, but I'll be at the Springfield Mile in a couple of weeks and I'll make it a point to check it out and take pictures (if I don't forget my camera).

I went by Dalton Gothier and James Rispoli's pit on Saturday and talked briefly with the mechanics. They're running the single cam heads. The rules won't allow them to change the heads for the Production class. I took some pictures of the bikes, but I haven't downloaded the camera yet. When I do, I'll put some photos up here.
