The battery cables can corrode up inside the housing, unseen, just above the crimp connection. Give them a good twist & pull, may just pull apart.

If there is nothing when the start button is pushed, give the starter relay a thump with your finger.

Had starting troubles with my 883, it was hit or miss . While servicing another Sportster I swapped the relays. Two days later the guy calls, no joy with the bike starting. "Thump the relay" I tell him. The bike started {as it should}... hero.

I hope this guy never go to your dishonest garage no more. At least don't post what you did to him.

What was done was actually brilliant... simply swapping of parts to determine the trouble.
Also, he learned something simple that might help himself & others down the road.

Then next time they can swap YOUR engine that has only 15000 miles with one with 250000 miles and laughs when you say your engine feel sluggish.

Parts swapping is the biggest no no in motorcycle shops.
