Here's the Sportsterpedia section on the Dyna-S ignition:
http://sportsterpedia.com/doku.php/t...ngctl01#dyna_s

It includes links to the install/config instructions...

Both the DS6-1 & DS6-2 instructions suggest 5-ohm for street & 3-ohm ONLY for race application...

Because I smash every DynaS I can.

A DynaS is not an electronic ignition it is a points eliminator, it still uses the centrifugal advance mechanism which by itself is worse than points.

It has NO
Over current protection
Dwell control
Vacuum advance
Provisions to run a hot coil so you can't open the spark gap

It does nothing for you but steal your money!
So you are taking the position that even though it solid state it does not qualify as and 'electronic' ignition because it retains the mechanical advance...am I correct in that evaluation? I think I am..so I am going to be blunt..

.....the guy who recommend the Dyna 'S' to me was none other than PETE HILL...so, on the outside chance that you THINK you know more than Pete Hill....you would be SO f.....g wrong.

I've seen you go through this tirade before..why...did you get your ass handed to you by somebody running a simple mechanical advance unit or something....

You need to let it go....take a chill pill...you'll live longer.
While YOU do not consider it an electronic ignition every automobile manufacturer and aftermarket ignition manufacturers on the planet who put S/S units (think GM HEI, ACCEL LED, Mallory Unilite) in cars and motorcycles most assuredly do consider them to be electronic ignitions.
