Old thread.

Must be they were still getting used to MMGW.

I've always avoided summer in the city. Asphalt temperatures can reach 150*F/65*C. The heat from the road is a serious consideration. A rider down on the pavement can suffer additional injury just from the hot asphalt.

An hour or so of stop and go traffic on a Harley is a special kind of torture. I've poured water down my pants just to cool off.

Liquid cooled 1000cc plus bikes are not better, more so when the electric fan cycles on.

The hottest part of the day is 3:30 and on. On hot days I generally try to be off the bike by then or at least quit until 6pm when the worst is over.

Well year before last I survived road temps in the range of 140-150F running out of Arizona. Not pleasant but got from westside of Phoenix to Pecos,Texas in a day. Funny thing, don’t remember much of New Mexico at all.

Alot of the larger cities, in the U.S., are placing electronic Thermometers on Overpasses in their freeway systems. No air movement in some areas. The hottest, I've seen, is 147F in Mpls. Mn. the summer of '12. That explained why my car was trying to overheat.
