[QUOTE=Crusty;5735172]What a great race to start the season with! Jarod Vanderkooi started dead last on the fourth row and finished fourth after an amazing charge through the field! I was hoping that Henry Wiles would pull off the win, but Briar Bauman had the track nailed.

It will be really interesting once they start on some of the longer tracks. The Yamahas looked competitive today, but how will they work on the 1/2 Miles and Miles? And the same can be asked about Brian Smith's Kawasaki. Vanderkooi looked really good on his Harley, but Halbert didn't do so hot on his.

I have to admit that when Jarod Vanderkooi on the factory Harley passed Bronson Bauman on the factory Indian it made my day a bit brighter.

All in all, I found it to be a thoroughly enjoyable rac

That was one of the Semis; the main was won by Joe Kopp on a Triumph. I got a kick out of Travis Pastrana riding the Water Buffalo. The power came on so suddenly, he was having a hell of a time with it breaking loose, and it was sliding on the expansion chambers when he was trying to go around the turns. I think he finished last in his Semi.

Ok I’m confused cause I could only find 2 semi race results for super hooligan...one Kopp won...and the other won by the 883.
I saw no final or main listed in the results on the flat track web sight.

Yeah; I don't know why, but the results of the Main aren't posted.

I had my doubts about this track configuration. New stuff and all. Prep was behind the game early in the day but I MUST admit that by main event time, ...what a race! Since nobody else did I'll say it, What about Jake Johnson? Who saw that coming?

Yeah, this was just a taste. Just a tease. Hard to judge anything but riders on a TT. Briar is on fire though. The guy has EVERYTHING going for him. A lot easier to concentrate on what's right in front of you.

THE story of the race for me though was Jared Mees!!!!! What is going on? I'm not particularly a Mees fan, but it's accepted, "Mees don't crash." Well, he fell down more in one race than he has in the last three or four years.

The early season and doubly so the first race can mess with heads. There's LOTs going on in everyone's life at this point. We won't know until we see some longer races and everyone get's back in the groove, but the in-the-bag Indian advantage appears to be gone. Now all those capable riders - whatever they're riding - just need to get back down to business.

You have to accept (for now) that the hooligans are treated as "entertainment" by AFT instead of legitimate racing. Now don't make the mistake of suggesting that to anyone involved in hooligan racing!!!

There is NOTHING "lowly" about an 883 hooligan! I'm assuming though, this being a Sportster site and all that you meant the comment facetiously. Usually run on shorter tracks, often 1/10 mile, my SX 250 would probably dust an FTR 1200 with equally capable riders. Maneuverability and control is much more important. They all probably ran the whole event in 2nd gear. Personally, I really wish they would bring in the REAL hooligan racers. The guys building race bikes from wrecks in their garage or backyard shed. Spending all their cash and driving 15 year-old cars so they can. Guy's who are in it strictly as passion. Don't EVER make the mistake of telling one of those guys that hooligans aren't "real racers."
