Default mini speedo w/ indicators

Still a super noob here, trying to figure out if this thing will even work for me:

https://www.dimecitycycles.com/speed...-diameter.html

It says that it's 'universal' and I understand that i'll have to figure out how to wire the thing up, but with the stock wheels it should be the correct ratio, right? I have a 1997 1200C.

I really hate the stock setup and want to clean this up so I can get riser-less bars... Is there anything special i'd have to do to get this to work with my model?

thanks

These will only work if your current speedometer is driven by your front wheel by a speedometer cable. I think 1994 was the last Sportster model with a mechanical front wheel driven speedometer.

However, you can relocate you current speedometer to the side. To the frame tube or to the left fork leg.
here's a very expensive example:

...or try eBay for a cheaper one...

Just google a bit on 'side mount speedometer sportster'. And maybe someone here with a side mounted speedo can help you with it.

That joker option looks pretty slick compared to the 'cheapo' version... Either way it looks like i'll have to buy some parts since i'm on a 'c' (backing plate and rubber mounts)... Not sure how my LEDs break down compared to the standard sportster indicators, but if I went with the cheaper option I'd likely have to also buy more 'standard' sportster parts to make it work.

Thanks for the tips.

Before you buy anything. Maybe it's a good idea to contact DK Custom on this forum and PM them on what you have now and what you want it to be. Perhaps they can give you more tips on what to buy etc...maybe they have something cheaper than the joker option(?)

I found their FAQ it looks like it'd be around ~30-40 more $$ just to get the extra parts I need since the LEDs don't align. At that price point i'm looking at the Joker machine as I think it looks a bit sleeker (also prefer the fork mount). Will reach out to them to confirm though.

Maybe they can give you some discount being on this forum(?). That joker part definately looks sleek. Well, when you made your choice and it's installed I'm sure you will show us the pics.
cheers!

Perhaps you could use your phone mounted on the bars with a speedometer app, I've done that it's seems pretty accurate.
