Here's something that just came to my attention: The Minneapolis City Council late last week voted to ban construction of new drive-thrus (Mpls, Mn.)

Minneapolis isn’t the first city to ban drive-thrus, though city officials say it’s the largest to do so. In Canada, at least 27 local municipalities have enacted some sort of ban on fast-food drive-thrus, according to research from the University of Alberta.

The Minneapolis City Council is rolling out the ban to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and noise levels. Though the city hadn’t heard any specific requests for the ban.

In Goodman’s view, the limitations actually make existing drive-thrus more valuable. What’s more, businesses will be able to keep their drive-thrus even if they’re sold to new ownership. Companies aren’t prohibited from renovating their existing drive-thrus, either.

My experience is that last statement should have included "so far or yet". So we'll see.

We aren't "off topic" are we?

The point is, I am NOT MAKING A POINT. This argument has gotten so heated that I think it's time for everyone to go outside and play and calm down for awhile. Schools had a RECESS PERIOD for a reason.

Yes, this is a serious topic and I am not downsizing it or taking sides. I am simply saying that everyone should go to their corners for a break and then come out swinging again, IF that is what you want.

I watch the news. I have an opinion. But I know when to turn the TV off and go for a walk, a ride, do anything else for a while. I have a friend who is obsessed with politics and watches it all day and all night, and only talks about politics. He didn't used to be that way. When I gently tried to explain that I agree with his viewpoints but he needs to change the subject every once in a while or he will lose his friends. He didn't get it and continues to do what he does. We don't talk very much these days.

Similarly, estimates of previous C02 levels have been interpolated from various samples. If C02 is
measured in antarctic ice we have to go back 800K years to find comparable C02 in the atmosphere or
10-15 Million years ago if the samples are taken from deep sea fossil shells. The point being that at that
time there was no sea ice and water levels were very much higher than now. If that happens the Netherlands
for example and other low lying countries will disappear.

And do you think that green house gases emitted by human activity are not a form of pollution?
Many green house gases including water vapor (the most important), ozone, carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide, are naturally present in the atmosphere. Natural CO2 sources include volcanic eruptions, respiration of organic matter in natural ecosystems, natural fires, and exchange of dissolved CO2 with the oceans:

I don't think changing from Sportsters to LiveWire's will change anything.

Other GHGs are synthetic chemicals that are emitted only as a result of human activity. Synthetic based gases like Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and perfluorocarbons (PFCs). The last ones I call pollution.

These types that are obsessed with CO2 levels. Why don't they push for tree planting? That's what turns CO2 to oxygen. Oh that's right: some would rather bitch about the dark rather than light a candle.

No wonder the Sortster is doomed!

There, see, I can't even spell it rite, now!

Climate change, eh!? Wasn't that called "weather" last century?

"And now for the weather...I mean...climate change" Tomorrow is going to be windy, cloudy and wet with a chance of thunder...otherwise fine"

Old enough to remember when killing off 2 strokes & muscle cars was the "answer" to pollution, climate change etc

I am sure my Sportster didn't cause that hole in the ozone layer, Oh wait, that's another one that the science was clear on but has since turned out to be bull.

According to Al Gore's past predictions, Manhattan is under water now.

I think that I read somewhere that if you put the life span of the earth so far, in a scale of 365 days, we humans have been here for about 10 minutes. Yet, we think we already know the trends of the "climate" changes for its entire past and future.

Could it be that the trends we are experiencing are normal in the big picture? Also, could the hole in the ozone layer be a pressure relief valve? I'm not suggesting anything, I'm just asking questions. We mere humans aren't nearly as smart as we think we are. The earth is even shifting its axes and we think that it abnormal; maybe it is and maybe it isn't.

Remember, there was a time when we thought the earth was flat. Just sayin'....
