There have been two major studies of color as related to motorcycle accidents. Both looked at clothing as well as helmets. Both pretty much agreed with each other and with this survey data.

At the end I have reproduced the New Zealand study with regard to helmet color which is table 2 in that report. There is a reference to that table below. The table did not reproduce very well when I pasted it here but you can figure it out.

1. Motorcycle rider conspicuity and crash related injury: case-control study

https://www.bmj.com/content/328/7444/857

Setting Auckland region of New Zealand from February 1993 to February 1996. (results publishes 2004)

https://www.semanticscholar.org/pape...fc400/figure/1

Participants 463 motorcycle drivers (cases) involved in crashes leading to hospital treatment or death; 1233 motorcycle drivers (controls) recruited from randomly selected roadside survey sites.

2. The”Hurt Study”
Los Angeles: Traffic Safety Center, University of California, 1981.

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...CAL_REPORT.pdf

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurt_Report*

https://www.webbikeworld.com/the-hurt-study/

* When interviewed in 1999, Professor Hurt "confided that he believes the report is still basically valid."[3]

Nonetheless, while the Hurt Report "remains the benchmark of motorcycle crash research"[4] and contained at the time of its publication factual, verifiable information, in clear scientific terms — it has been described as outdated.

From table 2 of Motorcycle rider conspicuity and crash related injury: case-control study:

Adjusted odds ratios of risk of crash related injury associated with potential conspicuity enhancing measures. Values are numbers (percentages) unless stated otherwise

totals controls cases %
n=1233 n=463 0.376 relative to black**
helmet color

black 491 213 0.434 1

white 377 112 0.297 0.684

yellow or orange 31 8 0.258 0.595

red 170 55 0.324 0.746

blue 70 26 0.371 0.855

other colors 69 41 0.594 1.369

** This column I added. It showa the lowest accident rate as for yellow at 59.5% compared to the number for black helmets, etc.

I bought a hi vis vest about 20 years ago to wear when I'm walking or bicycling on my country roads, in addition to wearing over my motorcycle jackets. Very reflective.
My helmets are black with silver trim (cool weather) and white (hot weather) and both have reflective decals. Both are full-face.

I may not look cool but I'm allergic to cagers and to road rash.
