Per the instructions switch #2 does not control the VOES wire.
Switch #1 controls the VOES wire. The instructions are confusing. He's right, it should be OFF whether you use a VOES or not. If not using VOES tape the wire so it can't touch ground. If using VOES the violet wire goes to the VOES and then the VOES goes to ground. Either way switch 1 is off.
You are right, I stand corrected. Switch one turns off the VOES. Switch 2 chooses Curve 1. I will edit my mistaken comment to correct that. Thank you.

The trick of adding 5° to the curve by putting the TDC dot to the right in the hole is correct. So from the graph in the instructions if curve 2 max advance is about 31 then adding 5 gives you 36.

Did he know you're working with an Ultima? The curve 2 in the Dyna 2000i unit they sell has a 35° max advance.
Boy ! There's a show stopper right there !

Just before you start to make real power the rev limiter kicks in ?

Wow! That would piss a guy off to just get really going in the power range and the rev limiter kills it? Like I said earlier! These ignition are made for big twins!

Off the shelf Ultimas can be set to one of 4 rpm limits by setting the right switches.
5500
6000
6500
7000
It's up to the user.

OK. He wasn't giving advice on a Sportster using this unit.

If I was using one I would just bite the bullet and program it myself.
None of the curves or final advance points are going to be where you need them.
Yesm I understand offsetting the unit by 6 degrees might get you whre you want to go but that's a kludge.

I can't find a cable for this. A guy sold 192 of them on Ebay, but sold out of them a month or two ago.

I have a schematic, but would rather just buy one.

It looks like Dynatek has released DIPK-7 as a new USB-PORT Adapter programming kit to mate with their PH-1 ON-BIKE harness kit.

The older DIPK-1 SERIAL-PORT programming kit also mated up to the PH-1 ON-BIKE harness kit.

Here's a PH-1 ON-BIKE harness kit on eBay:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dynatek-PH-...s/383346760422

And here's the DIPK-7 programming cable kit on eBay:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dynatek-DIP...s/392875592426

There still seems to be some confusion as to part numbers so be sure you order the right parts
as some vendors are using the DIPK-7 part number incorrectly (or with the wrong images it seems).

Here's the instruction sheet for the PH-1 ON-BIKE harness kit:
http://www.dynaonline.com/skins/down...truct/PH-1.pdf

The schematic from another post does not work. I built two of them, I know I have everything right and the program gives me a "Ignition not found" error message.

I will keep an eye out for one on bay some day.

I advanced the timing 12 degrees like the guy at Dynatek told me to and the bike was very hard to start. I had to spray carb cleaner into the carb to do it. FOr now, I will run it with 28 degrees maximum advance and not rev it any higher than necessary.

Update: I got the cable to work by switching the Send and Receive lines from the cable.
