"Randy" Got the factory mufflers on her still. It just makes me wonder if the problem I thought was a valve guide "for the last year" making a puff when I shifted was really the piston coming apart.
There was literally 20 seconds or less I heard it make noise.
As for the engine mods you can look at my post "time to freshen up the top end" I believe it is all there.

There's a lot of things that could cause this, lean, poor lubrication, too loose, rods not straight, detonation, etc.

maybe they shouldn't sell Taiwan piston's,at 10:1. Wiseco is an excellent choice. there was a,thread awhile back listing reason's for not using the hypereutectic. several of the evo pro motor builder's,commented. should be able to find it with a,search.

I am sure you will see more damage, when you split the cases. Bent rod? Hell yeah, and from the stress of trying to turn over, with that old beercan piston in the rear. I am sure it is trashed. Looking at the wad, and the case where the rod beat it into a groove, it would not surprise me to see mucho damage in the flywheel area in the rear, and possibly all the way around the case. Sorry for the bad news, but nothing in this world is perfect, not even XLF, but it is closer than a lot of things I have been involved in.

just look at the surface where the piston broke. Looks more like ground beef or clay. I think you just ended up with some crappy cheap pistons. Hopefully the lower end isnt beat up too badly

Hard to say what the cause of yours was as there is so much carnage.
No pic of the head, maybe it dropped a valve?
Maybe you left the gas on and thumbed the starter button on a cylinder full of gas?
I'd wanna see a pic of the top of the front piston for more clues.
