V-Twin pistons says it all. I try to use only high quality American internals in any of my Ironhead motors. When you rebuild, go Wiseco: I've had their 10:1's in my built '78 for over 8,000 miles with no problems.

I'm tearing the rest of it down today. I found the wire to the VOES ( vacuum switch for Hi-4 ignition) had shorted but that would have only made it run full advance 40°.

Insaneshane, my sincere condolences.
I would buy nothing from V-Twin Ted...
If I needed a new set of pistons, I'd ebay safari & get an OEM set.

Would it be cheaper/easier to find a decent replacement engine and just drop it in?
That way, you could ride and work on the rebuild at your leisure...

I said I would buy nothing from V-Ted and would use only OEM stuff.
I met good ol' Ted in the '80s.
If you like his stuff, more power to ya.
