If you want a chopper go for a pan head, or early shovel head.

If you don't buy it you will always wish you did. If you do and it works out, the only problem will be getting the smile off your face. Take it from an old man,you only get one shot at life. Settin around worrying about something as stupid as money is a waste of precious time. You can obviously afford it ,go for it. The relationship you'll make with that "old fart" will be worth the purchase price.

I truly appreciate ALL of your responses! It's been very interesting seeing all the view points from the Ironhead community! Thank you all so much for for taking time to help me out. My plan is to go Tuesday and pick up the bike. I'll let you know how it goes!

That's what he builds now. This was going to be his last sporty that he was going to keep but ended up buying a newer low boy to ride instead.

Stroker!

Looks like that guy knows what he is about.

Price is fair, you have to decide how much you want it.

Maybe you should wait until you get your next life.

There is a funny chemical situation that men face. A particular hormone that overcomes our fear and inhibitions. That hormone decrease in men as we get older.

The effect is to make us more conservative. Less likely to take chances. That's why young men with their whole life in front of them buy dangerous things like motorcycles. Ans then ride them fast. And us old guys don't. (Well, some of us still do)

Someone here mentioned "market price". There's no such thing. If I can find someone willing to buy my bike for $32,000 that's what the price/value is.

Yes, you can buy a lot of 74 Sportsters for 2-3K. I bought a good 79 for $1200 a few months back. But there is no comparison there to what your considering buying.

And this will never be a total write off. If you decide in a week, a month, a year or whatever, it's still a very desirable bike.

I have had countless people over the years berate me for buying this bike or that. They always seem to know more about bikes, money, resale vales, problems with the bike etc etc etc. This all despite the fact that I made my living by buying and selling bikes for years. And they didn't.

And if this damned bike makes that raven haired beauty you lust after stroll over and ask "Is that a Harley Davidson ?", well, it was more than worth it.

There are always other options...

Not sure about the asking price for this one.
