The Ultima is sold both as a complete kit and as a module only. I have always recommended the complete kit.

Thanks Mike. I think I'll suggest he go Ultima.

Ferrous asked who made the best? Not what "everybody" has? Just because some people like one brand doesn't make it the best?

The class "everybody" on this forum can be a very good indication, quite a bit better than the class "everybody" amoung teenagers

Clayton will want the best. It's going onto a XR style bike that will be wearing the Thunderheads I sold to him.
Money isn't a serious obstacle (he's just added a TechCycle starter) so is there a consensus on what the best setup is regardless of cost ?

I must bow out as I do not have the knowledge or experience to answer this.

We need a poll on ignition systems, oils and carburetors.

Best is a subjective definition as already demonstrated...

You did not mention what Year/Model Sportster engine you are meaning by "Hot Rod Street Engine"

================================================== ===
Hammer Performance sells the following nosecone models:

The Daytona Twin Tec 1005 Series

and the Dynatek Dyna 2000i

================================================== ===
S&S bought Crane and sells:
The HI-4N

================================================== ===
ZippersPerformance.com sells:
Daytona Twin Tec 1005S
Dynatek Dyna 2000i

Zippers also sells one called the Thunderbolt (which looks very much like a
rebadged version of the Daytona Twin Tec:

================================================== ===
The Ultima products are usually rebadged versions of other products.
Whether they are exactly the same or a variation is not known.

The Ultima 53-644 has a different set of curves from the Dynatek 2000i
although it appears to be a rebadge of that module:

================================================== ===

So - Depending on which performance organization you trust most, you can pick accordingly.
The experiences here with the Ultima (least expensive choice) will stand on their own...

Of course, there are also external igntion modules that use a CAM Sensor Plate in the nosecone.

Engine bottom end is a 74. Stock (I think) cylinders with Robson Thunderheads.

I think Andrews cams (V9's ? I forget). Custom exhaust and Mikuni 45 carb.

It's going to be ridden on the street.

I static timed it - I think I had it on the wrong stroke because when I turned the engine another rotation, the mark was gone and the rotor lined up.

My timing light doesn't work, so I threw it away. I asked a friend if he had one and he just threw his away yesterday...
