Since I’m a late 84 with no generator, makes sense as to why there was a blank in the middle spot. The PO cut the dash and signal wires in an crappy attempt to minimalize the bike as a bar hopper. Luckily I came along and rescued it from a certain future as a pile of parts.

That certainly makes sense. Maybe you can use the green one as a turn signal indicator? (if there are any turn signals on the bike).

hd said if it fits, ship. quality control was an issue, a thing that AMF brought to the table, but took some time, old farts do not like changes.
my 74 had oil and gen.
back to target, my ch had issues with shift also, what will help greatly is to blue print the tranny. when i adjusted to the minimum allowable clearances, made a HUGE diff, no more clunk and slides into gear and you swear it did not. hd gear dogs sucked as it was basically drag and drop. the counter shaft is a little tricky but doable through the oiler plug hole. best to measure every thing first so you know what direction to go. some of the shims were a trick to find.
it is well worth the effort if it bothers you, i just had bird in hand since i was in there.

I installed the turn signals on the bike again. I considered a signal light but since I have to hold the button down for the signals to function and turn off when I release, there really wouldn't be any need for an indicator since there's no mistake of leaving them on.

I may leave the middle spot open for a future toggle switch if needed.
