Default Front brake rotor interchange question

Does anyone know if the bolt pattern for the front rotor is the same on 1983 XL and 1991-1999 FXDWG or FXSTCWG.

Trying to figure out if I need to buy a new front wheel or if I can bolt 91-99 front brake rotor directly to me oem 83 front wheel.

Don't complicate the simple. Get a new rotor for your 83 XL. 1991-1999 will not fit. Now ya got lots of extra money for beer.

I put a wide glide frontend on my 83 Sportster.

I need an 11.5 rotor to work with the 91-99 WG caliper.

My 83 XL wheel is in good shape. I am trying to figure out if the 91-99 Big twin WG rotor bolt holes line up with my existing 83 XL wheel or if I need to sell this XL wheel and buy a different one.

The rotors are wheel specific, the bolt patterns are the same, but the center hole size varies.

Good to know. As long as the hub bolt pattern is the same I will be golden. I can resize the center hole at my buddy's machine shop for free.

It is OK if the center hole is too big. It is the bolts that support the rotor.

Yeah. You're definitely right. Too big is okay.
