Have to make a bracket to relocate the fender up... easy peasy...
I'll use this one on my XL1200S...

Also spent my morning tea time drilling bolts for safety wire...

I just bought some 2.5" x 0.065 wall 6061 tube... gonna have a go at making the brackets to relocate the fender and closing the gap outta alloy and polish it... remember i need 4 since i dont have my brake and bead roller here, would like to put a 1/4" flange on the edge to make it a bit stiffer, I'll have a go at making the bends in a soft jaw vice an shaping the radii on my belt sander, now where did i put my sharpie????

headpipes done and new stainless clamps on order....

laying out my suspension choices... if I had more time I'd set this up in CAD but I will just mock it up in the bike... Measure twice cut a bunch...

even with the steeper XR1200 triples Im gonna have to raise the rear a bit more than the XR1200 shocks allow.. I have the forks up in the triples as much as they will go ... I have a chain tensioner and im not too worried about swing arm angle... I did this for my RZV500R and it saw 11 years on the race track... and I got it real close on the second try ...

I'm ditching as much sprung and unsprung weight as i can and still achieve the "look"

so I roughed out the new rear shock mounts... and mocked it up...
will trim a little more and sand to shape on the belt sander... I think this is nearly the last bit of fabrication before pulling the engine and refinishing the frame and swingarm...

the three holes in the bottom are so I can plug weld the bracket as well as weld it along the edges...

It a bit crude right now but it will be fine in the end...
oh and two more details... the rear of the fender needs to come down 3/16 to 1/4" and the rest of the old shock brackets needs to be trimmed off before i can weld the new ones on...
