Default air cleaner swap parts question

i got a bunch of parts to change on my 2010 xl1200 low.
i got a set of bags, 2 up seat, sissy bar, and a set of cycle shack slip on mufflers.
i still need to buy a tuner, and an air cleaner.
looking at the dragtron 2, and the offerings from hammer performance.

i see they sell a carb mount support bracket for some air cleaners.
im assuming i dont need this for an efi bike? am i wrong?

is there anything else im missing that i need to swap out my air cleaner?

i am looking at venting the crankcase outside the air cleaner,
does this change what i want in an air cleaner?

thx for helping out the newbie.

I think you will still need a support bracket.
You can buy them as a kit that will come with all hardware req'd to vent to air.

EFI bikes come with the bracket from the factory, carb'd bikes do not

You'll want to get an external breather system for your crankcase vents. From the factory the vent goes back into the intake and will gum up your throttle body, intake manifold, heads, and pistons. Pay attention to which air cleaner you get, as not all of them are compatible with the external breather systems. Hammer performance and DK Customs offer the best bang-for-your-buck intake upgrades around with custom brackets, K&N filters, breather kits, and lots of style options.

First thing I did on mine was order a Hammer Impact Offset Air Cleaner Assy and horseshoe breather kit (chrome). One stop shopping. Put it on last March before it was warm enough out to go for a ride and start the break-in process.

hammer is high on the list!
i considered the offset, but not sure on the look.
i think the centered might be more my style.

I wondered about that too, but knee clearance took precedence. My knee likes the offset and it's not something you notice unless you're really looking for it. It doesn't look "wrong". No regrets.

my 2010 efi 1200 has the factory support brace, herostar mentioned.
my bike has less than 5k miles on it, it has been babied all its life.
not a lick of dirt, or sand, or even engine oil in the factory ham can.
had the factory air filter in it still, looked like new almost.
its getting a 7" round chrome bobber style air cleaner.
i wanted chrome, and a classic hd look.
i should have a better looking wing nut soon.
