It could be that you are getting to the needle at that point, and the needle may need to be raised one notch (washer), or the needle may not have the right taper at the tip end, and CV Performance carries the cure for that.
The OP has a butterfly carb, not a CV. Or did I miss something?

Where are you getting the idea you're getting too much fuel? I think the consensus is just the opposite but you need to read plugs to know where you're what. A shot in the dark approach just doesn't work here and could compound the issue you're having. So will the lollipops most likely.

i don't know about pump shot adjustability on your keihin, but you could remove the pump rod, measure it, and get another rod of similar diameter and cut just a little shorter. that will push on the diaphragm a little less and reduce the pump shot. hopefully someone will come along with a better answer than that, but it is an option.

Ya'll have given me a bunch to chew on, I'm going to do some experimenting a bit at a time, no A/C in the shop so my work time is limited, I'll let you know when I either fix it or f--k it up. First thing is to run it till it's at operating temp and check the plugs again......

Not sure. He said Keihin, so I assumed. But, whatever carb it is, there should be some "off idle" circuit, and this seems to be a problem in that range.

That's just too simplistic of a way to view what's happening inside an exhaust. Until I have the time to weld up a good 2-1 exhaust, I made the 2" drag pipes that came with my bike work with lollipops. They were effective in cancelling out the harmonic reversion that caused the bike to run too rich in the rpm range I use most where drag pipe sag was obviously negatively affecting the performance.

Do a few plug chops and see what they look like. If it's lean, see what jets are in it now. If they're stock, I'd bump up both the jets one step, adjust the idle jet screw accordingly, and see what that does.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it (especially if you don't know what you're doing). Most Sportster problems are owner-induced.

Please read this before you start.

This will help you get straight to the problem instead of just throwing things at it until it gets better.
