Well, I think I will update this thread, I finally decided to repair the damage to the tank, here is a quick run down on how I did it.

First, I wet sanded the whole tank with 1000 grit

A close up of the damage

Then a little bit of filler

I wet sanded the filler with 400, then 600 grit, my goal is to keep the repair as small as possible

Here it is primed, sanded, and with the black portion taped off

After the base coat

And after the pearl coat

And here it is after clear coat, I was painting Crusty's parts today, so I decided to paint this too.

Interesting Joe as I spotted this one in the background of John’s parts painted pictures. Now I know the story, thank you and kudos, really nice work.

Default NIce Fix

Your tanks is a work of art. Sorry about the crash. Don't know why the Insurance company would want to total it for lots of scratches unless your engine was so messed up it would not hold oil or the frame was bent.

Is your Roadster the Old Roadster or the 2017 and above because your rear fender looks longer than my 2019 OEM Factory Chopped Fender?

Mine is a 2006, the other parts I painted are going on a 2016 Roadster, check out Crusty's snippets thread to see the changes he is making.
