Default Cylinder head pitting

Is it common to have a little bit of minor pitting on the head gasket surface of the head?

Will this substantially effect the sealing of the head?

Thanks Dave

What's the definition of minor? Have a picture to post? How deep are the pits? How many?

Very hard question to answer without seeing the issue. You could always have the heads shaved down a nuthair if you were concerned about it.

It happens due to the differing materials used in the sealing surface, alum head, steel composition gasket and cast iron cylinder liner. However minor it's best to resurface the cylinder head.
