Default Ride from NJ to Mt. Washington

Hey guys, I will be riding to Mt. Washington on June 23rd. I will be up there for 3 days. This will be my first time going so I would like to know if anyone recommends any good areas to hit while im up there. I was also hoping someone would recommend some roads on the way up there as google maps seems to give me some very straight routes. If anyone wants to tag along for the ride feel free to let me know.

I would recommend riding through white mountain national forest. It has some good scenery there. But it is a 1 lane road and the tourists in the cars can make it slow. You can take RT5 which runs Parallel to I-91 north. I just took that from vermont south this weekend and it was a good road.
Here is a good route to take. I was on some of these roads this past weekend. RT 112 is a great road.

You could also head a little east at shelburn falls MA and jump on RT5 that follows I-91 the rest of the way up until you need to head east again. (I could not edit this map anymore but up north don't get on I-91 wear the map shows you just stay on RT-5 if you want the slower route)

On your way up there is an OK BBQ joint in Putney VT just off of RT-5 called Curtis BBQ. I ate there this past Saturday on a ride with the new England crew off this forum and it was OK. Not the best but i have had worse. The chicken was better than the ribs in my opinion. It is definitely an experience you wont get in many other places.

If your looking for a place to stay that is not tremendously far from Mt. Washington but is a biker friendly motel and they give you free breakfast if you ride in. The Inn at Rostay is a great little motel to stay for around $100 per night.
https://www.google.com/maps/place/Th....7978457?hl=en

Walking distance from the Inn is a good restaurant/Pub called Roosters Roadhouse. The food and service is good. It's only a 2 minute walk from the Inn so you can eat dinner and drink and not have to worry about riding anywear afterwards if you don't want to.

I stayed at the Inn at Rostay about 3 years ago and it was a nice little motel. I chose that place because according to an online page i found on good routes to take in maine they recommended that area because it was in a good location to take multiple routes and end up in a central location. we stayed for about 3 days and took a different route each day that ended us back at the Inn without having to take to many of the same roads back to it.

FYI - Laconia Bike week is a few days prior to your trip. One of the events during bike week is they close the road up to Mt Washington to bikes only. Might want to investigate that if you are flexible on your dates!

in Mikes first map, enter CT with the Merritt Pkwy, 15. take RT 58 north into danbury. then use route 7 instead of route 8 into MA and you can pick up the 112 pretty easy using the 23 road. the 112 is a GREAT road.

RT-7 is a better road than RT-8. Took that to VT few years ago. 7 turns into a nice back road when you get further north.
