No signals on mine - haven't had any since about 1991....

If it ain't broke, don't fix it (especially if you don't know what you're doing). Most Sportster problems are owner-induced.

I perfer to be seen than ran over like a rodent. I am in the the middle of upgrading all my lighting to LED with the help of Custom Dynamics. Great people by the way. I am lucky that they are right here in my part of the woods in NC. Just my 2cents worth. Life is worth more than style in my book.

In IL, bumper tagging is common, and people are always in a rush to get to the next traffic jam. I live in WI now, but I travel to IL a lot to see friends and family. I've had many instances in my car where cars would bumper tag me and honk, not realizing that I'm trying to make a tight turn off on a fast street, even when there are 2 lanes to choose from.

If putting a blinker on will help in the least bit, its on. That's why I put mine back on... although I might try taking them off again. When I take them off I put the Panacea brakelight on with directionals in it.

The other reason I like some sort of indicators, I've had friends and family follow me at one time or another while riding in the dark. Without indicators and using engine braking, they couldn't tell what I was doing... particularly because my jacket was black (at the time) and couldn't see hand signals.

I have mixed feelings about the subject. I believe the more lights, the more likely to be seen, however, some of the people I've come across in the past year I don't think would stop unless they ran into a brick wall...

I also sometimes think that if you don't have the sigs on, you might pay closer attention to everything around you rather than rely on the turn signal to tell someone behind you (hopefully they are watching and not talking on their cellfone) that you're turning...

I run turn signals also I use them religiously, I like the cages around me to have as much information as possible, as to, what I'm doing or about to do.

Think about it.

Your first point, with the more light you got, the more of a chance (no guarantee, but more of a chance) you're seen.

and your second point, as long as you're smart enough to understand the first part (there is no guarantee) then you ride LIKE YOU HAVE NO SIGNALS and pay attention and you're good.

It's a win-win situation.

Well, when they're not on the phone, doing their makeup, eating breakfast, reading the paper or changing the radio, I'd like them to have the info.

if i bought a vintage bike that never had them in the first place, i wouldn't ADD them.

but i'd never remove them from a bike.

of course i'm a safety nerd anyhow. i still have my reflectors for criminy.
