Default 1/4 mile trap speeds

I see lots of dyno graphs and claims of "this thing is running great..." but I almost never see claims of 1/4 mile trap speeds. In most all performance forums, other than Harley forums, trap speed is the final end-all for who is making real power and who is not. As a general rule, ET is mostly driver tallent, trap speed is all Horsepower.

Any thoughts as to why they are almost non existant around here?

AW

I think you answered your own question. There may be a lot of fun in these bikes, but there's not a lot of horsepower.

Dynos may be more common than dragstrips in some parts. Hmmm...I wonder how much a hand held radar goes for could be fun for Sporty get togethers!

What percentage of the bikes here do you think have been seriously put thru quarter mile times. If you want to get a better chance of getting some meaningful times perhaps this should be posted in the Buell section of the forum. Even though most here want to upgrade the motor this is for the best part for better sound and more torque for effortless cruising. For running quick quarters it will be much cheaper on a Japanese multi.

What is your best time on the quarter. Do you use Megasquirt EFI on your Sportster?

Trap Speeds???....guess I never really gave a shiite.
I could care less how much power or torque or how fast or how Billy Badass someone thinks their Bike is.

Stock bikes in magazine tests have reported trap speeds around 100 mph.
