6 months ago I knocked a 3/8 impact swivel off the side of my rolling work table I use when doing work under cars, 40" off ground.
I saw it fall and hit the ground, and its not small..
I've cleaned and looked and swept with a big pick up magnet.
"Poof" Gone. 6 month been looking... Now I know its a big shop, full of crap around the edges but that's a pretty big thing to loose.
I figure some how went out the shop door 30' away screaming I'm Free I'm Freeee......
Then joined up at a local bar where my magnetic light are all hanging out.

Watch the movie Thor: The Dark World. That explains the phenomenon.
I set a 12mm socket down on the floor of a shop I was working in, years ago. it was a smooth concrete floor with no holes or cracks in it and there was nothing around the area I was working in, other than the Honda I was working on. It vanished without a trace. I looked for it for hours and never found it again. I figure it's sitting with a set of keys and an old Vimto can in a cave on a planet far away.

A friend was changing springs in his FLH forks in his garage. One of the caps shot across the garage, never to be seen again. Even when he moved, and entirely cleaned the place, it failed to show.
