I've had cast and spoke wheels. Spoke wheels look retro but cast wheels are more practical in less cleaning, slower air loss from a puncture and a lot easier to clean. I would trade my spoke wheels for cast wheels in a heart beat. But, each to his own.

I want some forged wheels! I’m partial to OZ. I’d settle for a new Enkei though. Of course, performance wheels aren’t anywhere on the radar of the new “premium brand” business model.

Anyway, as for my bike. I’m apparently stuck in my search for a 28mm socket for this axle. No luck so far locally. Lots of 27mm and 30mm stuff around, but I haven’t seen a 28mm yet. Might have to break down and order one somewhere.

I thought it strange that the nut is a good 1 1/4, but the end of the axle is a loose 1 1/8 or a snug 28mm. I have one, from my old Kawasaki, but still, it just seems different, in a weird sort of way.

Picked up my fresh rebuilt Hammer 1275 over a Darkhorse bulletproofed bottom. 50 miles down 450 to go, then fun fun fun!

Do you have the standard or Low forks

This is on an 883 Low, with the shorter stanchions, spring and spacer tube

I wash mine once a year, whether it needs it or not. It cuts into my riding time.
